On August 2, 2016 from 5:00pm-8:00pm, the Dearborn Police Department will celebrate National Night Out on Crime aiming to increase awareness regarding crime prevention, and to strengthen the community-police partnership. In addition to increasing awareness of crime prevention programs, this event is designed to send a message to criminals that “neighborhoods are organized, working with police and are fighting back against crime!”

Chief Haddad stated, “Dearborn is a prime example of a community that works in partnership with its police department and the private sector. Together these partnerships have made real strides in crime prevention and quality of life issues.”

The event is open to the public and it will be held at the Dearborn Police Department’s east parking lot located at 16099 Michigan Avenue in Dearborn. It will include: free hot dogs, drinks, and ice cream, a bounce house for the children, a dunk tank, the Dearborn Fire Department’s newest Fire Truck and Rescue, and Vehicle Extraction Demonstrations by the Dearborn Fire Department.

In addition to attending the event, Dearborn Police Chief Haddad is also requesting that all Dearborn residents turn on their porch lights on August 2, 2016 to support National Night Out On Crime and to make an extra effort to look out on their neighbors.

The American Human Rights Council (AHRC-USA) strongly encourages all Dearborn residents to attend and actively participate in this year’s National Night Out on Crime event. It falls on the Primary Elections day in Michigan, where voters can enjoy this time with the Police after voting. Fighting crime is our common responsibility for the safety of the city, society and ultimately the nation.
