Beginning today, Monday May 23, 2016, through Tuesday, May 24, 2016, world leaders and nongovernmental organizations will be meeting at the United Nations’ first World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul, Turkey. This is a time and opportunity for world leaders to gather and address the world’s most pressing humanitarian issues impacting millions upon millions of people; and to reaffirm their commitment to bringing real and sustainable solutions to these issues. The summit is held amidst a world that is torn by wars, conflict and divide.
The American Human Rights Council (AHRC-USA) joins all peace-loving people across the world demanding world leaders to take serious, effective and amicable measures to relieve human suffering to protect our common humanity. The summit’s challenge is to live up to its claimed purposes and goals of addressing the World’s shared challenges through shared solutions. The right of safe, happy, secure, peaceful and prosperous life is a  basic human right for all regardless where. The world’s leaders must be held accountable to meet these challenges and provide equal opportunity for all. The quest of peace and social justice is one basic right that so many people are being deprived from.
