The American Human Rights Council (AHRC-USA) extends its heartfelt condolences to the families of those who were brutally killed in the Orlando, Florida night club shooting and wishes all the injured a speedy recovery. According to news reports, over fifty people were killed and over 53 injured in an attack by a single shooter. AHRC-USA joins the nation and all peace loving people across the world in condemning this heinous crime against humanity. Once again innocent human beings are the victims of hate. This sad tragedy serves as another reminder that extremism, hate and terror are our common enemy and recognize no faith, race, color, nationality or origin. AHRC commends the Orlando Police Department, the FBI and all the other law enforcement authorities for their swift action saving lives and for not rushing to judgment under their sensitive and difficult times.

AHRC-USA urges all not to rush to judgment and calls for a transparent and thorough investigation into the factual reasons that led to this tragedy. Rushing to judgment will only increase the divide and contribute to the advance of the culture of hate and undermine unity in the face of hate. The committed crime is a crime against all of us and all decent human beings around the globe condemn this heinous crime. AHRC asserts that the demographic background of the shooter does not and should not implicate a whole demographic group. AHRC-USA reiterates its concern over gun violence and urges reform of gun laws to ensure the safety of all human beings and to put an end to mass shootings.

“It’s another sad day in America when we see members of the LGBT community, our brothers and sisters in humanity, fall victims to a mass shooting,” said Imad Hamad, AHRC Executive Director. “It’s another tragedy motivated by hate. We again emphasize the need to spread a culture of respect for the human rights of everyone and foremost of these rights is the right to life,” continued Hamad.
