[July 11, 2017]: The American Human Rights Council (AHRC-USA) extends its sincere condolences to Rev. Bill Gepford’s family, the Littlefield Presbyterian Church in Dearborn community, the Presbytery of Detroit and entire community at large for the death of Rev. Gepford.

Rev Gepford died on Monday, July 10, 2017.  Rev.  Gepford was a veteran minister and veteran man of God. He devoted his entire life serving God and humanity beyond boundaries, race, color and faith. He was a true bridge-builder and maker that helped bridge the gap between people of all colors and all faiths and all races. Rev Gepford gave faith its true meaning by being a true servant of God and humanity at large.

Rev. Gepford was a strong advocate for peace and justice. He supported Palestinian basic human rights. Rev. Gepford’s contributions to the Arab and Muslim community gave him a special place in the heart of the Arab and Muslim immigrant communities. His contributions to Lebanese and Yemeni immigrants to Michigan will ensure his legacy as a giant of building bridges of compassion and understanding between fellow human beings of different backgrounds. Rev. Gepford is held by high regard and is loved by all those who met him and had the honor of working with him.  AHRC shares the sorrow and grief of Rev. Gepford’s family.

“Rev. Gepford, a shining star and a point of light,  is one of the few who touched my life and had a great positive impact on me during a difficult phase in my life,” said Imad Hamad, AHRC Executive Director. “Rev. Gepford was always there, courageous lending the helping hand to all. Rev Gepford was indeed a true man of God,” continued Hamad.

Memorial Services; A memorial service for the Rev Dr William Gepford will be held Thursday July 20 at 11:00 am at Littlefield Presbyterian Church. This will be a service of thanksgiving for Bill’s life and ministry, a witness to the resurrection, and an invitation for us all to continue the hard work of living further into a future of peace and justice for all. Bill was a real pioneer in interfaith work in metro Detroit and beyond. Our interfaith and community friends are welcome to join us for this celebration.
