The American Human Rights Council (AHRC-USA) expresses its sincere appreciation to the generous donors who provided several inmates in the state of Michigan and the Federal prisons’ systems with prisoner gifts.  The Prisoner and Family Gift program succeeded in processing a total of $8000.00 worth of gifts to 80 inmates. Donations helped alleviate the stress and pressure not only on the prisoners but also on their families, their spouses and their children.  Special appreciation goes to Life for Relief & Development (www.lifeusa.org)  for their gracious support  and contribution to the success of this project this year.

This AHRC Prisoner Holiday Gift program is a gesture of kindness that helps those behind bars connect with the outside world, with the donor and recipient embracing their common humanity.  This is a active program around the year program. The program has two special events a year- one during the holy month of Ramadan and the second during the Christmas and New Year Holiday season. AHRC hopes that people of good will continue to help rehabilitate the prisoners by reminding them of their connection to the world outside the prison walls.

“One of the goals of incarceration is rehabilitation of the prisoner. The Gift program helps connect the prisoner to the world outside the prison walls. We believe this connection helps with rehabilitation,” said Imad Hamad, AHRC Executive Director.
